This site is intended to assist you with using your Irlen Colored Overlay App for Android. Irlen Colored Overlays for Android can increase your comfort, fluency and accuracy when reading, and allow you to read and work on your device for longer periods of time without strain or fatigue. This App brings our proprietary technology directly to your Android smartphone and tablet, where you need it most. It allows you to select from 10 preset Irlen Overlay colors, or create your own custom color, and then apply your color to the screen of your device. By reducing contrast on the printed page, Irlen Colored Overlays can improve print clarity and stability, reduce strain and fatigue, eliminate headaches, improve comprehension, make reading faster, and allow you to read longer and with comfort. GETTING STARTED

  1. Open the app
  2. Turn the app “ON”
  3. Select a color from our 10 preset Irlen colors or create your own custom color combination by selecting (+) and then choosing the colors you want to combine
  4. Adjust the density of your colored overlay
  5. Click “APPLY” to apply your chosen color to your device
  6. Push the HOME button on your device to exit out of the Irlen App

CHANGING COLORS

  1. Return to the color selection screen and click “RESET” to return to a blank overlay
  2. Choose a new color and click “APPLY” to apply your new color to your device
  3. Push the HOME button on your device to exit out of the Irlen App

TURNING THE APP OFF

  1. Open the App
  2. Click “OFF” on the activation screen
  3. If you are already inside the App on the color selection screen, click the Irlen App Logo on the top left of your screen to return to the activation screen, then click “OFF”

TROUBLESHOOTING

We have done our best to ensure the Irlen Colored Overlay App is optimized for the large variety of Android devices and operational software currently available; however, the ever-changing digital market may result in rare incompatibility issues. Should you experience the following incompatibility issue on your device after downloading the Irlen Colored Overlay App, we recommend that you uninstall the app from your device, and contact us at irleninstitute@irlen.com, so we can better optimize our program. When reporting an issue with the App, please provide the following information:

  1. Type of device: make, model
  2. Version of software/operating system running on your device (per your latest system update)
  3. As much detail as you can about what happened, and what you were doing on your device when it happened
  4. An email address, so we can contact you with any questions

To date, we have only had one report of a device incompatibility issue, and one issue of failure to download from the Google Playstore:

DEVICE INCOMPATIBILITY: When restarting the device, it boots up fine, then changes to an opaque white screen after approximately 1 minute when the Irlen App automatically goes active. If you experience this issue, remove the battery to shut off your device, then restart it. When the Irlen App boots up, it will ask you if you would like to turn on your overlay, select “NO.” This will return your device to normal functioning. You may choose to restart your device and try turning back on the Irlen Overlay App to see if the compatibility issue has been resolved. If you encounter the same difficulty, please follow the instructions above to turn off the App, then please send us an email with the information above to help us improve our App for all users.

FAILURE TO DOWNLOAD: Sometimes an application can fail to download onto your device due to an issue with the Google Playstore App. Simply clearing the cache of the Playstore App and restarting your device will usually correct the issue. To clear your Playstore cache:

  • Go to Settings→Apps, Select “All” tab
  • Find Google Play Store, open its entry, Clear Data and Cache
  • Find Google Service Framework, do the same
  • Now restart Google Play Store and try to download/update the app or games

REFUNDS

All refunds for app purchases through Google Play Store need to be requested via the Google Play Store. Instruction from the Google Play website are below. For more information, visit Google Support.

Refunds within 2 hours of purchase:

  1. Open the Google Play Store appPlay Store.
  2. Tap menuMenuand thenAccountand thenOrder history.
  3. Find the app or game you’d like to return.
  4. Touch Refund to complete your refund and uninstall the app.

Note: you can only return an app or game for a refund once. If you buy it again you will not be able to get a refund.

Refunds within 48 hours of purchase:

Submit a refund request online. You’ll usually get a decision within 15 minutes, but it can take up to two business days.

Refunds after 48 hours or more:

Contact the developer

If 48 hours have passed, the developer is responsible for deciding if you are eligible for a refund. Contact the app developer directly and ask for a refund.
